"Hold on tight to me,
I'm fading."
And sure enough
Ankles and ears and collarbones
Gone from sight.
No more of her
Gone.
She bloomed
Into a field of flowers
Poking through the snow
Life in a tundra.
Where a blanket of snow lay
There was also the
Garden of Eden.
Splintering like broken glass
Into a million pieces
Spread across the earth
Into hearts and eyes.
Changing those who
Took a piece of her with them.
Every time they looked
It reflected off her.
Loved, it went first
Through her heart.
She was everything,
Nothing.
Her garden grew wild,
Thorns tearing milk flesh.
She sobbed every night
Laughed every morning.
Her eyes lolled,
Her tongue rolled
Her throat ripped out
By the dogs of desire.
And still she screamed,
"Hold on tight."
"Hold on tight to me!"
